What happened, briefly:

On December 23, 2005 Kolja Britok was beaten by the entrance to his house. He was in coma when delivered to the hospital. The body was not sensible to pain. Later, pain sensibility would recover. Two operations were done on him, including one on his brain. Doctors say Kolja’s condition is very difficult. A number of infections were revealed with the medical examination, possibly including encephalitis. A need for one more operation was determined.
The cost of one operation is 60 000 Rubles (2,100 USD)
The cost of infection treatment is 230 000 Rubles (8,070 USD)
The cost of keeping Kolja in the hospital is 3000 Rubles per day (105 USD/day)

The approximate cost of treatment overall is 500 000 Rubles (17, 540 USD)

Some money was collected by Kolja’s school friends, family friends and acquaintances, students at his University, students at other Universities at St. Petersburg as well as by some unknown people who responded to the announcement on the internet. Thank you.

300 000 Rubles (10, 500 USD) has been spent totally on Kolja’s treatment.

By now we have collected 100 000 Rubles (3,500 USD)

To save Kolja we need now at least 500 000 Rubles (17, 540 USD).

Utochni, Sergej, mogu li ja skazat chto on student i ja ne pomnu wrode ty goworil emu 19 let? Wot nizhe perewod glawnoj stranizy. Pozze perewedu zhiwije nowosti-------------

In the evening of Dec 23, 2005 unknown persons in the street brutally beat and undressed (took off the coat, sweater and shoes) a 19-year old St. Petersburg University student Kolja Britok. Half-dead, they hid him in a garbage container for the night. The next morning at 6 a.m. Kolija was found by a street cleaner. Kolija spent the whole night (10 hours) in the garbage container while the temperature was -10 degrees C. He stopped breathing several times.

In the morning he was taken to the hospital reanimation. It turned out his entire head was damaged, ears and nose were broken, lips and eyes damaged. It was hardly possible to recognize him. He looked terribly. Most likely, they were kicking his head and face with their feet too long.

Computer tomography showed that Kolja’s entire brain is seriously damaged and an additional damage to the brain was caused by lack of oxygen (because he stopped breathing).

The doctors managed to restore his body, reaction to pain, reaction of his pupils to the light. But Kolja has been in coma ever since. He has had some operations done on him, including several on his brain. We have spent all our money, at least 300 000 Rubles (10,500 USD) for the treatment. Doctors say that at least one more operation is needed. Besides, the doctors carry out infection treatment. Approximate cost of such cure is 500 000 Rubles (17,500 USD). We have collected by now 100 000 Rubles (3,500 USD).
